Figma
Intermediate
Figma is a web-based design tool used for UI/UX design, prototyping, and collaboration. It allows designers to create wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and design systems.
How I use it
I am a strong believer in being tool-agnostic, new and more powerful tools become available over time and a capable designer must learn to adapt. That being said, I do feel that I have acquired a certain degree of skill in Figma and my comfortability with it has allowed me to explore and improve the way I design.
I use Figma for many different parts of my overall Design process. I find it extremely useful in certain areas of the OOUX and ORCA Methods. I use it to create user flows, mood boards, and wireframes. One area in particular I find it useful is in creating very representative prototypes, these are gold to use in prototyping. They allow me to conduct very accurate test on the product usability with out having to have a developer spend time building anything more advanced.
Figma is a wonderful tool that has helped me grow as a designer, but I have used other comparable tools like Adobe XD and Framer. I plan to continue to try others and be ready to adapt to any tool necessary, I believe my design methods are what make me an adept designer.
