Prototyping
Advanced
Prototyping is the process of creating a version of a product or feature to simulate its functionality, layout, and interactions with users. Prototypes can range from low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity interactive models that look very similar to the final product.
How I use it
Prototyping is such a valuable tool to translate a designer’s ideas, looking at wireframes and mockups can fall a little flat a leave a developer or stakeholder guessing as to what the design is intending to do. Prototyping solves this issue by creating a clickable, testable version to share.
I create prototypes early and often in my design process as it helps me to see how the design will really work in practice. Developers I have worked with have also found it very helpful in visualizing what the design needs to do.
Figma has become my go to prototyping solution, but I have done it in Adobe XD as well. I love to share my prototypes with my design team too as I can get exceptional feedback in these situations.
